After a week of voting, The American High School is our winner! Thank you all for participating and sharing your amazing films. If you are interested in being involved with the Showdown next year, please contact me at email@example.com.
One last movie before we start the voting, this one from Brennan Gash in Loudoun County.
Friday brings you a film by a group of freshmen working together for the first time, called The Unknown.
Today’s submission comes from Josh Houlton in Loudoun County
Our second entry is the winning film from Gallup’s 2013 Teen Film Fest, called the American High School:
Our first contender this year is from Aaron Parker with the Loudoun County Library. The Film is Perception in Black and White. This week, I will be posting the videos, and next week the voting will open!
It’s a little more than a month until we start posting videos! How do you submit? Send me (firstname.lastname@example.org) the video file in a format I can read (Quicktime, wmp, etc). Make sure you have permission from your teens to post their movie. Since we all have different submission criteria for our festivals, we won’t have a theme or time limit for the Showdown. Just send me your winners, I’ll post them, and the teens will vote!
Some interested librarians have told me they would like to participate but would like to have until November. My teens have expressed that, with school starting, they would also like a little longer. Since Thanksgiving is really late this year, I think we can squeeze it in before the holiday madness starts.
SO! I propose that we officially schedule the Showdown. Let’s post videos November 4-8 (gives us time to bombard social media in case some libraries haven’t heard and want to participate) and open voting and comments up after that. I think we can leave voting open for a month to give time for word of mouth.
If there are no objections, I will say MAKE IT SO and start putting the word out to everyone who has ever expressed even an iota of interest.
The next film club meeting will be: SATURDAY MAY 11 at 3PM at the MAIN LIBRARY. I will be emailing, texting, putting up fliers and visiting classes.
Here is a thing to think about: In the past, our theme has been based on the national Teen Read Week theme. This year, the theme is “Seek the Unknown.” Do you guys want to have a theme? Do you want to use that one? WE WILL TALK ABOUT THIS AT FILM CLUB. If you want your opinion known and your voice heard, SHOW UP.
